Cute corgi product alert!
#flashbackfriday Baby Gert’s first day at home!
I know how ridiculous this entire post is going to sound to most people but bear with me. I live in a desert. I am new to this!
Our new yard is irrigated - which means that it’s flooded once a month (twice in the summer) for moisture. There are no sprinklers or anything. This lends itself well to growing nice big trees and allowing you to have more normal grass and what not. It does NOT lend itself well to having three dogs who are having the time of their lives in the mud and then tracking it inside.
So here’s my question: those of you who live in climates with regular rain and mud - how do you deal? We’d like to get a dog door eventually but that’s seeming like it might not even be possible without having a mud-caked house.
After the initial mudfest that was Riley running through the house with mud-caked feet, we’ve been catching everyone at the door and wiping their paws. Riley handles it well, Sam sometimes gets grumpy about it, and Gerty flat out looses it. She gets SO MAD. She sounds like a wild animal who is going to attack any moment. I’m not sure why she hates it so much but man…she is NOT A FAN. Since she’s a corg, she’s also figured out that she needs to try to sneak by us or run away from us because her paws are getting wiped if she wants to come inside. *sigh*
Anyway, what are your tactics for dealing with mud? Especially if it’s all over your yard? I was thinking booties maybe? I don’t see those going over well either but they would be easier than a foot bath at the door for everyone.
P.S. This is the kind of things that makes you realize how much easier life would be with just one dog.
Fun times in the new yard!
